How to Rise and Slay
This post is for my girls who rise and grind Monday through Friday. If you wake up early and go to bed late, and have a packed schedule in between this post is for you. I know how demanding it can be to take classes full time or work a 9 ot 5. I’m going to share my best tips for making the most of busy mornings and slaying each and every day. At the end of this post, you might not be a morning person but you’ll be a person who owns her mornings!
Lay Out Your Clothes and Pack Your Lunch the Night Before!
Picking your outfit and preparing your lunch the night before can easily help you save up to 30 minutes in the morning! I have a mannequin that I use to display my outfits for the next day ( I promise, I’m not always this extra!) and I generally choose my clothes for the week on Sunday night. In addition, I pack simple, healthy lunches the night before and store them in the fridge overnight. Doing this takes off a lot of stress in the morning because I don’t have to worry about what I’m going to wear or what I’ll have for lunch that day!
Wake Up on The First Ring!
I know that your morning alarm is likely as unwanted as a creepy Tinder message but you’ve gotta listen to it because it’s your key to a productive morning. I lose so much time when I hit snooze, and whenever I fall back asleep I end up even more tired and disoriented than I was when I first woke up. I have concluded that although it’s kind of painful, it really pays to get your butt out of bed on that first awful chime. Just do it! You’ll be giving yourself a head start that you can use to build a cheery and productive day.
Oils Are Essential
I love mixing 1-2 drops of my favorite essential oils into my moisturizer in the morning! This is such a good way to perk up and add a boost to your morning routine. Simply pump out a pea sized amount of moisturizer, add a few drops of oil, warm between your hands and apply to your tired little face. The aroma from the oil is sure to refresh you and wake you right up. The oils you use should be all natural and adding such a small amount to your entire face will not give your any trouble (Just to be safe start off with a tiny drop!). My favorite oils to do this with are lavender oil and a special blend of essential oils designed to boost energy!
Put On a Great Playlist
I don’t know about you but an amazing playlist takes my morning from terrible to terrific! I can’t seem to frown or be the least bit grouchy when I’m jamming out to upbeat summer songs. I listen to music throughout my entire morning routine and I recommend that you do too! It’s sure to set the mood for a great day!
Add Something Fun to Your Look!
I love makeup so I’ll be really excited to get out of bed if I know that I’m going to add a little something extra to my makeup routine! When I’m in a rush I love to play up one of my features and add a pop of color. You could go with a bubblegum pink blush, blue eyeshadow or orange lips – whatever you choose to do just make sure you have fun!
Get Your Brew On!
There’s nothing like a little coffee or tea to wake you up in the morning. If you’re a lucky duck who has a Keurig, pre-set that baby so you can wake up to the dreamy aroma of Americano! I am not blessed with a magical coffee making machine so I generally brew myself a little morning cup of tea. Having a warm beverage is sure to calm down your morning as your prep for a hectic day!
Set Some Timers (And Beat Them)!
The best way to streamline your morning routine is to figure out exactly how long each part of it takes! I like to set timers for each part of my morning and see if I can beat them. For instance, I generally take 10 minutes to brush my teeth and wash my face and 5 to check/post on social media. Start to take notice of how long it takes you to do things and hold yourself accountable by setting that timer! This will also help you pinpoint the points during your morning where you are wasting the most time. The best part is if you speed and beat the time you could come out with 10-15 extra minutes on your hands!
